Elizabeth Arden Red Door
Red Door was a spontaneous idea of Elizabeth Arden. When she opened her first salon on Fifth Avenue, one of the first things she spent money for, was to have the outside door painted deep rich red. Then she ordered a brass plaque with her new name inscribed in cursive writing. When the polished nameplate was mounted on the door, she knew immediately that it was right. The Red Door became a distinctive signature of Elizabeth Arden salon. Years later Elizabeth Arden would hire the best interior decorators to design her new salons and make the older ones look even more remarkable. However, the elements of her own design would always remain. The pink color which she had chosen for her first reception-room, became the trade mark of Elizabeth Arden salons. Elizabeth Arden products were always beautifully packaged in her pink.
